Try it with sample files
From a downloaded PDF to a name you can find
Start with a few copies of your invoices, contracts, or scans. Review the suggested names before applying a batch.
Download the starters
Download two Templates and the fictional invoice and meeting notes. Try these copies first.
Import and select a Template
Open Templates → More (…) → Import Templates. Then choose the invoice or document Template in AI Rename.
Review, then rename
Check the date, vendor and number against the PDF. Apply the reviewed names; rename history lets you undo.

Do not treat an inferred date or number as a verified accounting field. Poor scans and missing information can produce incomplete suggestions. Renaming changes the filename, not the PDF contents.

A fictional invoice for Northstar Studio, number NS-1042. The recorded suggestion kept the vendor and invoice number; it did not include the invoice date.

PDF naming workflows
Built for invoices, contracts, scans, and statements
PDF cleanup is different from renaming photos or screenshots. The useful filename is usually hidden in the document text: vendor names, counterparties, dates, form numbers, billing periods, and signatures.
Illustrative naming patterns. Check dates, parties, and identifiers against the PDF before applying. Set aside unclear files and use rename history to restore names when needed.
Invoices
Vendor, document type, invoice period, and date keep accounting folders sortable.
Contracts
Counterparty, agreement type, status, and date make legal PDFs easier to retrieve.
Statements
Institution and reporting period are pulled from the PDF instead of guessed from the download name.
Scanned receipts
For image-only scans, AI vision reads visible page content when there is no embedded text layer.

Where Zush fits next to Finder, Preview, and Adobe Acrobat
Zush does not replace PDF readers or editors. It fills the repetitive filename step after PDFs are downloaded, scanned, signed, exported, or received by email.
Working with vendor bills rather than mixed PDFs? Use the invoice auto-renaming guidefor accounting Templates, field extraction, and bulk PDF tool comparisons.
